(November 24, 2017) CULVER CITY, Calif. — Volkswagen has outfitted an all-new 2018 Tiguan with the latest in doggy-themed accessories, all which were on display at Wags, Wheels and Waffles, a charity event inspired by the need to find permanent homes for rescued pets. The event, presented by Auto Conduct, featured dogs from Southern California animal charities Maeday Rescue and A Purposeful Rescue in addition to a made-to-order waffle station for attendees.  

On display at the event was a 2018 Tiguan specially outfitted to help accommodate four-legged friends. This accessories concept builds on the current vehicle’s fun to drive character, more sophisticated and spacious interior, flexible seating and driver assistance features with Genuine Volkswagen Accessories added with dogs in mind.

Kurgo Products and WeatherTech provided a curated selection of doggy-themed accessories to further enhance the journey for Volkswagen owners and their pets.

This 2018 Tiguan accessories concept model is based on the seven-seat SEL Premium model, and is equipped with a 2.0-liter TSI engine and an eight-speed transmission, paired with Volkswagen’s advanced 4Motion all-wheel drive with Drive Mode Select.

Riding on 19-inch “Victoria Falls” wheels finished in a custom anthracite gray, this concept Tiguan features a modern variation of the pop-up roof — the Urban Loader cargo box. When empty, the Urban Loader offers a sleek, minimized appearance; when needed for hauling, it can expand to a 17.7 cubic-foot container, perfect for hauling bulky items belonging to your two or four-legged friends.

The inside of the dog-friendly Tiguan features a Kurgo Tru-Fit dog car harness that allows dogs to be buckled in but still able to access the convenient kibble carrier for snacks. Custom Volkswagen seat covers and all-season floor mats can help with an easy cleanup for snacks left behind.

Dogs will find it easy to get in and out of the concept Tiguan thanks to a WeatherTech PetSTEP pet ramp. The Tiguan’s second row also features an innovative universal tablet mount that can allow passengers to bring a popular variety of touchscreen tablets along for a getaway.

Other accessories designed into the build of the Tiguan include side window and hood deflectors, a heavy-duty trunk liner with extended seat-back coverage, and aluminum side steps to help Volkswagen owners and their pets step into their next adventure.
