(October 18, 2019) WALWORTH, Wis. — Mecum Auctions will return to Chicagoland to host the area’s only annual collector car auction Oct. 24-26 at Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center in Schaumburg, Ill. The Mecum Chicago 2019 auction is slated to feature an estimated 1,000 American muscle cars, classics, Corvettes, trucks, exotics, Hot Rods, Resto Mods and more to cross the block.

Main attraction offerings include the first-of-its-kind 1957 Chevrolet Corvette SRIII  presented by SRIII Motorsports and inspired by Sebring, Le Mans and SR2 race cars of the period. The meticulous eight-year build features an aluminum DOHC LT5 V-8 engine sourced from a 1991 Corvette ZR1 and a ZF 6-speed transmission, and it has been the recipient of multiple awards including Chip’s Choice at the invitation-only Corvettes at Carlisle.

Other auction highlights include a 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda and a 1970 Plymouth Superbird, as well as unique “dealer specials,” like an unrestored 1967 Ford Mustang She Country Special and a one-owner 1967 Chevrolet Camaro Black Panther edition.

Among at least 10 private collections to be offered — encompassing nearly 250 vehicles and including more than 150 to be offered at no reserve — are highlights such as The Petrozzini Estate Collection curated by the late Chicago-area real estate developer James Petrozzini, including his one-of-seven 1947 Delahaye 135 MS Figoni et Falaschi Narval Cabriolet to be on display and available for purchase.

Among the 87 other vehicles in the assemblage, all of which will cross the block and be offered at no reserve on Thursday, Oct. 24, are many that boast significant local ties to the Chicago area, such as the 1968 Shelby GT500KR Convertible that was sold new at Ernie Banks Ford.

The BRP Collection exudes beauty, rarity and power with offerings like a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle LS6 with its original single-year and matching-numbers LS6 454/450 HP engine and original matching-numbers M22 4-speed transmission.

 From Bel Airs, Impalas and Corvettes to GTOs, a Ventura, a Thunderbird and even a Hemi Coronet 500, the collection also features a 1966 Oldsmobile 442 Convertible with a L69 Tri-Power 400 CI V-8 engine and 4-speed transmission.

Mecum Chicago 2019 is open to buyers, sellers and spectators. Bidder registration is available online in advance for $100, $200 after Oct. 23, and includes admission for two to the three auction days. General admission tickets are available in advance online for $20 per person, per day, and for $30 at the door and online after Oct. 23; children 12 and younger receive complimentary admission.
