The other side of Stephen in Infiniti QX50 commercial

(May 30, 2018) NASHVILLE, Tenn. — As part of the launch campaign for the all-new midsize luxury crossover, the 2019 QX50, Infiniti debuts a new commercial starring its global brand ambassador, basketball star Stephen Curry.

The all-new QX50 featured in the spot is a luxury midsize crossover that combines standout design with exceptional interior space and the world's first production ready variable compression ratio engine, the VC-Turbo.

Infiniti's QX50 is the first production vehicle ever to give drivers an engine that seamlessly transforms on demand, setting a new benchmark for powertrain capability and refinement.

"Stephen Curry's drive to continue to set new benchmarks both on and off the court is an ideal parallel to the attributes of the all-new InfinitiQX50," said Phil O'Connor, director, Marketing Communications and Media, InfinitiUSA. "It is the first crossover with the ability to seamlessly switch between two sides, power and performance as well as efficiency and economy."

In this moody, yet engaging new spot Curry uses this ability to switch between his nice and "darker" side. The ad picks up the notion that Stephen Curry is known by many as the nicest guy in basketball and the all-new QX50 can unleash another side of him.

The ad opens with Curry striding towards the QX50 stepping on a newspaper with the headline "nicest guy in basketball" before he settles into the vehicle and dramatically states that people do not know he has "a darker side". Mid-sentence he receives a call from his wife, which has been recorded with Curry's wife Ayesha, asking if he remembered to get the milk. The music shifts and the viewer sees Curry in a store getting milk. The spot ends with Curry back in the driver's seat saying, "I can be merciless."
