Morgan delvers first 11 models of all-new 2020 Plus Six

(August 13, 2019) GLOUCESTERSHIRE, England — The Morgan Motor Company has delivered the first 2020 Plus Six production cars to its UK Dealership network at an official handover ceremony during the annual Morgan "Thrill On The Hill" event at Prescott Speed Hill Climb in Gloucestershire, UK.

The official handover, which took place on the hill itself during the lunchtime break, represented the first deliveries of the all-new Plus Six, which was announced at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

In total, 11 UK-based Morgan Dealerships were in attendance to take delivery of their new Plus Six models at Thrill On The Hill, from as far north as Perth in Scotland to as far south as Exeter in Devon.

The arrival of the new demonstrators offers an opportunity for customers to try the latest Morgan. More than 150 Plus Six orders have now been placed, with customer deliveries expected to begin during the fourth quart

The Plus Six is an all-new car that celebrates Morgan’s distinctive design. It features a BMW three-liter inline six-cylinder turbocharged engine and is the first model to be built on the company’s new CX-Generation aluminum platform. Fewer than 1 percent of its parts are shared with other Morgan models.

The BMW B58 TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder engine produces 335 Bhp, 369 lb/ft of torque. Also used in some of BMW's performance models, the B58 engine used in the Morgan Plus Six is a TU1 specification engine, signifying it's one of the latest BMW powertrains.

The Plus Six is the first Morgan production car to use an inline 6-cylinder engine and the first to use turbocharging. Acceleration of Morgan Plus Six has been recorded from 0 to 62 mph in 4.2 seconds, continuing to a top speed of 165 mph. The raw power of the engine is managed through a ZF 8 Speed automatic transmission, complete with Sport and Plus modes. Manual shifting through the eight gears can be achieved using the paddles or gear lever.

The Plus Six has a starting price of £77,995 ($94,374) including VAT in the UK. The first 50 cars to be built will all be First Editions in ‘Emerald’ or ‘Moonstone,’ priced at £89,995 ($108,894). These editions are fixed specifications and include a lightweight composite hard-top roof.

“We are delighted to witness the first Plus Six models being handed over to our UK Dealership network here at Thrill On The Hill 2019. The sight of all 11 Plus Six First Editions is one to behold, and this handover marks the culmination of years of hard work from our small team based in Malvern Link," said Steve Morris, Morgan Motor Co. CEO.

'I would like to thank all the staff at our factory, and our Morgan Dealerships in the UK and around the world, for their continued efforts in bringing Plus Six to market. We look forward to a bright future for this fantastic new Morgan.”
