Mopar dream cars roar into Mecum's 2016 Indianapolis auction

(May 11, 2016) INDIANAPOLIS — Mopar fans are a dedicated group of enthusiasts who have helped drive incredible demand for vintage Plymouth and Dodge muscle cars throughout the past few years. Lovers of Mopar muscle will be like kids in a candy store at Dana Mecum’s 29th annual Original Spring Classic in Indianapolis.

The auction features at least 30 Hemi-powered cars, such as the Plymouth Hemi Cuda and Dodge Hemi Challenger, as well as at least 10 V10-powered Dodge Vipers. These Mopar dream cars are among the more than 2,000 vehicles to be showcased at the auction, which takes place May 17-21 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis.

Leading the way are two street-legal Plymouth Hemi Cudas and two exceptional Plymouth Hemi drag racers, a 1971 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Pro Stock, one of the most dominant Pro Stock cars of the era-campaigned by Ronnie Sox for the famous Sox & Martin team and a 1968 Barracuda B029 Super Stock (pictured below). One look at these exceptional cars demonstrates why the present day continues as a high point for Hemi-powered Plymouth muscle.

On the Dodge side of the ledger, the Wayne Briggs Viper collection includes six Vipers of various years and trims, all of which will delight fans of the American two-seater that combines raw muscle with tremendous sports-car handling. Vintage muscle is also well represented with a 1970 Dodge Hemi Challenger R/T ) as well as two superb 1968 Dodge Hemi Dart LO23 drag cars. Mopar fans will not be disappointed.

The auction is open to buyers, sellers and spectators with general admission tickets available at the gate for $30 per person per day or $100 for a five-day pass; children 12 and younger receive complimentary admission.
