Mitsubishi introduces a pair of lifestyle Outlander editions

(August 30, 2013) Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) and the H360 Group have teamed up to create a pair of custom sport-utility vehicles designed for today's active professionals who prefer to get their exercise in the great outdoors, any time of year.

The five-passenger 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Summer Edition and the seven-passenger 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander Winter Edition each have been customized to become the ideal ride for a particular season, complete with integrated sports equipment and technology designed to offer as much fun as possible — whether under the sun or on the slopes.

The companies have launched a microsite in support featuring behind-the-scenes video of the build projects as well as interviews with celebrity strength and conditioning specialist Jay Cardiello and professional snowboarder Bryan Iguchi.

Designed to be the perfect companion for warm-weather outdoor sports, the 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Summer Edition comes fully equipped with some of the latest and greatest sporting gear and goods on the market.

Features include his-and-hers roof-mounted Trek mountain bikes, along with a tennis racket, jump rope, various kettlebell workout weights and resistance bands, yoga mats, and exercise wear housed in custom-made storage sections in the rear cargo area. A wakeboard vest and ski rope can be found in a new waterproof compartment in the rear cargo floor.

New tech equipment includes an HD camera with wi-fi remote to document whatever adventures the driver and passengers embark upon, along with an extensive exercise workout program on a USB drive plugged into the front console. There's also a headliner-mounted iPad© Mini, which can access the Internet using the vehicle's integrated wi-fi network.

New burnt orange paint with graphite accents, 20-inch graphite wheels with Nitto NT420S tires and new interior features including black leather/perforated leather, gray suede and orange stitching and interior trim painted burnt orange to match the eye-catching exterior round out this handsome and user-friendly customized Outlander Sport.

"The practicality of this car reflects my lifestyle — always on the go, and I never have to skip a beat," said Jay Cardiello, celebrity strength and conditioning specialist and Fitness Editor-at-Large for Shape magazine. "Whether I'm at the beach and I want to hit the waves with the Boogie Board, or I want to hit the hills or mountains with the bike, or I want to jump onto the sand and hit the yoga mat, everything is there." In order to create the ideal vehicle for winter recreation, the Outlander Winter Edition was outfitted with a comprehensive selection of gear needed for a day on the slopes.

There are his-and-hers roof-mounted snowboards, as well as matching jackets, gloves and snow pants that are located on a metal LED shelf in the trunk, along with his-and-hers goggles and snowboarding boots. For those cold mornings, the Outlander Winter Edition comes with a mini coffee maker in the rear cargo area and an LED-illuminated Thermos mounted in the SUV's center console.

To document any extreme moves on the slopes, an iPhone 5 camera lens has been placed in the armrest and an HD camera is located on the dashboard. There's also a custom Recaro children's booster seat in back, for any little snowboarders-in-training.

To further set it apart from the rest of the cars on the road, the Outlander Winter Edition is painted an alluring white hue and outfitted with brushed aluminum exterior trim, along with brushed silver 20-inch wheels with upgraded brakes and tires. Inside, there's new black leather and light gray suede-covered seats with yellow stitching accents. The interior trim has also been painted to match the exterior. All-weather floor mats are designed to keep melting snow/ice at bay, while a ski pole grip shift knob adds a final touch of winter wonder to the interior.
