Mecum Chicago 2021 collector car auction set for Oct. 21-23

1956 Buick Century

(October 6, 2021) Mecum Auctions will hold Mecum Chicago 2021 — the area’s only annual collector car auction event — this Oct. 21-23 at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center in Schaumburg, Ill. The auction will feature an estimated 1,000 American muscle cars, classics, Corvettes, trucks, exotics, Hot Rods, customs and more to cross the auction block.

Among the featured lots consigned for Mecum Chicago 2021 are a handful of Corvette convertibles including a highly acclaimed 1968 model that was Bloomington Gold, Survivor and Benchmark certified in 2017, part of a 2018 Bloomington Gold special collection and also a three-time NCRS Top Flight award winner; a Nassau Blue 1966 model that is powered by a 400 CI small-block V-8 engine and features an automatic transmission; and a 1968 L89 model  built on Oct. 18, 1967, and boasting Bloomington Gold certification achieved in 1993.

Another offering slated to rock the Chicago block is an unrestored 1970 Buick GSX  that’s one of 678 produced and one of 491 in Saturn Yellow; the car is powered by a 455 CI V-8 engine and is equipped with an automatic transmission.

The Jimmy Vasquez Collection will include 10 consignments, most of which are low-mileage vehicles from the Bowtie brand, including a two-owner, unrestored 1976 Chevrolet Monte Carlo with just 12,500 miles, and a 2008 Chevrolet Corvette Pace Car Edition used for the Gatorade Dual at Daytona on Feb. 14, 2008, that is one of two produced and shows just 120 miles.
