Mecum Anaheim auction to feature 750 collector cars

(November 9, 2016) Mecum Auction will stage Mecum Anaheim 2016 Nov. 17-19 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Southern California featuring an estimated 750 American muscle cars, classics, Corvettes, Hot Rods, Resto Mods and more to cross the auction block.

Among the main attractions at Mecum Anaheim 2016 is a pair of 1968 Pontiac Firebirds featuring the rare Ram Air option. The first, a 1968 Pontiac Firebird Ram Air I, is one of only 92 automatics built that year, and the second, a 1968 Ram Air II, is one of 110 made. Other headliners include a 1957 Ford Thunderbird E-Code and a 1969 Shelby GT500 Fastback equipped with the 428 SCJ Drag Pack.

Among the other auction consignments is a custom-built, California-classic 1959 Cadillac Coupe Deville (below) with an LS3 V8 engine that underwent a complete frame-off restoration in 2011, as well as a 1962 Chevrolet Bel Air Resto Mod with an LS1 engine and fewer than 1,500 miles driven since its rotisserie restoration. Among the “no reserve” consignments is a red 2006 Ford GT (Lot S104) with 2,500 miles with a six-speed manual transmission.

The auction is open to sellers, buyers and spectators. Bidder registration is $100 in advance and $200 at the auction and includes admission for the bidder and a guest for all three auction days. General admission tickets are available at the gate for $30 per person, per day, or $60 for a three-day pass; children 12 and younger receive complimentary admission.

Doors open each day at 8 a.m. with the auction beginning with Road Art at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17, and at 8:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 18-19.

The cars will begin crossing the auction block at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17, and at 10 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 18-19. NBC Sports Network will broadcast 16-1/2 hours of auction coverage, including six live hours, and a live stream of the entire auction will be presented at Mecum.com.
