Jeep contest spotlights adventures close to home using a gallon of gas

(August 29, 2013) AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — Jeep has announced “30 Miles of Freedom,” a new online/social media initiative celebrating the American road trip with the Jeep Compass and the Jeep Patriot, two vehicles that deliver up to 30 mpg highway while embracing a true sense of adventure.

Based on the up to 30 mpg highway delivered by both vehicles, "30 Miles of Freedom” is a two-phase competition that launched online this week (Aug. 26), and will culminate in early December 2013 with two consumers being given the opportunity to win either a new 2014 Jeep Compass or a 2014 Jeep Patriot.

“’30 Miles of Freedom’ embraces the time-honored tradition of the American road trip, celebrating the freedom of the open road while extolling the virtues of finding adventure,” said Mike Manley, president and CEO Jeep Brand. “The Jeep Compass and Jeep Patriot are perfectly-suited to journeys near or far as two of the most capable compact SUVs in the market with fuel economy ratings of up to 30 miles per gallon.”

Consumers can visit the site to submit their ideal 30-mile road trip with a Jeep Compass or a Jeep Patriot. The road trip must take place in the continental United States and must be up to/no more than thirty miles, from starting point to the end point of the final destination.

Six finalists will be announced on Oct. 7 — three for the Jeep Compass, three for the Jeep Patriot — to move on to the next phase. Those six finalists will be given the opportunity to take a Jeep Compass or Jeep Patriot on the ideal road trip they described as part of their submission.

Each “30 Miles of Freedom” road trip will be filmed and submitted for voting. Final voting online of the videos by fans will take place from Nov. 25 through Dec. 7. The two vehicle winners will be announced by the Jeep Brand in early December based on online votes.
