Hyundai Elantra Coupe to start at $17,445

(June 18, 2012) COSTA MESA, Calif. — Hyundai has announced pricing for the new Elantra Coupe, starting at $17,445 for the well-equipped Elantra Coupe GS and $19,745 for the sport-tuned Elantra Coupe SE.

Hyundai says that at $17,445 shoppers will discover best-in-class fuel economy, and more horsepower and interior space than Civic Coupe.

The Elantra Coupe is all new for the 2013 model year.

"Elantra Coupe also has remarkable content advantages over many competitors. The entry to the Elantra Coupe lineup is the well-equipped GS, which comes standard with air conditioning, heated front seats, AM/FM/SiriusXM Satellite Radio/CD/MP3 audio system, steering wheel audio controls, illuminated vanity mirrors, cruise control, Bluetooth, external temperature gauge, fog lights, power locks, power heated mirrors, remote keyless entry with alarm, 60/40 split fold-down rear seatback and 16-inch alloy wheels," Hyundai says.

The coupe will be equipped with the standard Elantra 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine making 148 horsepower. It will be rated at 29 city and 40 mpg highway with the manual transmission.

Edmunds.com says, "Based on our experience with the Elantra sedan, we expect the Elantra coupe to be a top choice for an economy-minded two-door, beating out competitors such as the Honda Civic coupe and Kia Forte Koup. It should also be a more conservative alternative to Hyundai's other compact front-driver, the Veloster. A turbocharged Elantra coupe is also a possibility."

Hyundai says the coupe should be arriving in showrooms by the end of the month.
