Harley-Davidson — This year, we’re doing our part by rallying through riding

(July 25, 2020) Rallying and riding together has always been part of who we are. During this unprecedented time, the choices we make about how and where we gather and ride are very important. The COVID-19 pandemic is making an impact on events globally, including the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, Aug. 7-16.

We know many riders will be creating life-long memories this year as they ride across the United States on their way to the 80th anniversary celebration of this legendary rally. This year’s rally is being modified by event organizers in many ways with the intention of safeguarding the Sturgis, S.D., community.

As a leader in the motorcycle industry, our role as Haley-Davidson is to set a responsible example and to protect our staff, our riders and our communities. Therefore, we have made the decision to support the City of Sturgis in ways we feel encourages socially distanced riding and supports the health and safety of the Sturgis community and riders.

We are proud to be the official motorcycle of the Sturgis 80th Rally, and the Bar & Shield will continue to be prominent at the event. We will be focusing our “on the ground” support in ways that are consistent with our health and wellness goals instead of large consumer activations.

We’ll dedicate our space along the famous Lazelle Street to provide appropriately spaced free H-D Bike Parking only, and the H.O.G. Check-in will be available at the Pappy Hoel Campground from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Throughout the Black Hills area, riders can experience test rides at Harley-Davidson dealerships in accordance with their local health and safety guidelines. And our billboards, signs and truck-side billboards will encourage safe, socially distant riding as well as QR codes that when scanned will share some of our favorite Black Hills rides so riders can experience Sturgis as it should be … riding epic roads on two wheels.
