Ford's quarterly sales in Thailand up more than 21 percent

(October 26, 2009) BANGKOK, Thailand — Ford Thailand's new vehicle sales rose more than 21 percent during the third quarter from the previous quarter. September sales rose almost 8 percent from August, representing its best monthly sales this year and marking four consecutive months of increasing sales.  

Rising sales of Ford Ranger helped drive Ford's strong third quarter performance. In September, Ranger delivered its highest monthly sales since October 2008, jumping 8.6 percent from August with 541 units, versus a 6.5 percent decrease for the pickup segment during the month. Total sales of Ranger in the third quarter increased nearly 29 percent from the second quarter.
 
Ford Escape sales in September also represented the nameplate's best monthly performance since October 2008, increasing more than 44 percent over the prior month. Third quarter sales of Escape were up nearly 80 percent from the previous quarter.
 
The refreshed Ford Everest, which continues to enjoy strong sales in markets around the region, beat sales estimates in Thailand for both August and September, and delivered its best quarterly sales performance since December 2007.
