(September 14, 2014) HAVERHILL, Mass. — The iconic Checker cab returns! Steve Contarino, an avid car enthusiast and collector, has announced formation of Checker Motor Cars, a business dedicated to support the iconic Checker automobile.

Contarino says the business is a new, innovative concept to make collecting and owning a piece of automobile history exciting and rewarding. The business is offering restored/reconditioned cars, original Checker parts, Checker merchandise, broker service and consulting/appraisal services.

Located 25 miles north of Boston in Haverhill, Mass., Checker Motor Cars' facility provides a service and restoration center with a parts warehouse on-site. Product knowledge, superior customer service and staying current with trends in the collector car industry are the key ingredients behind Checker Motor Cars.

After 40 years, a large number of original Checkers are still on the road. Many estimate that 2,000 survive out of several hundred thousand built. Checker automobiles were designed for extreme duty and meant to last 250,000 miles. Contarino says Checker Motor Cars is here to support the Checker community as a one-stop source for the Checker collector's needs.
