Added equipment and fresh design for Mercedes-AMG GLE SUV, GLE Coupe

(February 1, 2023) Mercedes‑AMG is upgrading its successful GLE SUV and GLE Coupe model range for 2024, arriving at U.S. dealerships in 2023. From the front, the AMG vehicles can be recognized by the newly designed LED daytime running lights. The GLE 53 models also receive a revised front fascia with expressively shaped side air intakes in an inspired jet‑wing design. Thanks to this powerful appearance, they move visually closer to the range-topping GLE 63 S models.

The rear features revised LED taillights. Two new paints have been added to the color palette: MANUFAKTUR Alpine Grey and Twilight Blue Metallic. In addition, the front fascia now also bears the AMG emblem on the front hood of the vehicle, which is the new hallmark for all future AMG vehicles. A new 22‑inch forged wheel in a ten‑twin‑spoke design is fitted standard on the GLE 63 S Coupe and available as an option for the other models.

The AMG seats are exclusively available with leather upholstery, including new colorways in Bahia Brown/Black and Macchiato Beige/Black. Trim elements in High-Gloss Brown Linden Wood or MANUFAKTUR Piano Black Flowing Lines are now also available. The new Mercedes‑AMG GLE models also benefit from the latest generation of MBUX. The AMG-specific screen design makes the brand experience even more immediate.

The suite of standard equipment is significantly expanded for 2024. In the case of the GLE 53 models, it already includes the electric panoramic sliding sunroof, heated front seats, Adaptive Highbeam Assist and Burmester surround sound system. Among this models’ newly added standard features are the selectable AMG Performance exhaust system, MBUX Augmented Reality for Navigation, Memory Package, Parking Assistance Package and leather upholstery, which is complimented with newly standard heated and ventilated front seats.

The latest AMG Performance steering wheel is also standard across the model range. The round AMG Drive Unit buttons impress with their brilliant displays and intuitive operating logic. These allow important driving functions and all driving modes to be controlled without the driver's hands leaving the steering wheel. The steering wheel can be heated as an option, and is also available with a carbon fiber design.

GLE 63 S SUV and GLE 63 S Coupe customers also enjoy the benefits of the newly standard AIR BALANCE Package, multi‑contour front seats and head‑up display. Additional standard features include, MBUX Interior Assistant and logo projector with AMG-specific animation when the front doors are opened.

The GLE 53 combines sportiness with everyday practicality. The refined exterior exudes more hallmark AMG presence than ever. The basis for the engaging driving experience is provided by the 429 hp AMG-enhanced 3.0L inline six‑cylinder engine. With the help of a software update and a larger turbocharger, the AMG development team increased the maximum torque from 384 lb-ft to 413 lb-ft. Furthermore, the engine now responds to driving commands with extra spontaneity and added agility. Acceleration from 0-60 mph is also more dynamic at 4.9 seconds (previously 5.2 seconds).

The GLE 63 S stands for pure AMG Driving Performance on any terrain. Here, extreme dynamism meets off‑road driving characteristics and comfort for everyday driving. The proven Handcrafted AMG 4.0L V8 Biturbo engine with an output of 603 hp ensures powerful propulsion. Fine-tuning of the software for the configuration of the ESP, electronically controlled rear‑axle limited-slip differential, fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all‑wheel drive and the suspension control system delivers a dynamic and superior driving experience for all models.

Both engines are electrified by means of an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) and a 48‑volt electrical system. The ISG combines a starter and alternator in one powerful electric motor and is installed between the engine and the transmission. The ISG performs a number of functions including, boosting, recuperation, load point shifting, gliding and the almost imperceptible restarting of the engine during the start/stop function.
