More American car shoppers consider going green as gas prices climb



(March 18, 2022) SANTA MONICA, Calif. — More Americans are researching green vehicles as gas prices climb to record levels, according to the experts at Edmunds, an online car shopping resource that generates more than 20 million visits every month. On-site shopper consideration of green vehicle (hybrid, plug-in hybrid and battery electric) pages on Edmunds jumped 39% over the past month and increased 18% over the last week. Of the shoppers who visited Edmunds during the week ending March 6, 17.9% researched a green vehicle.

Falling oil price halts daily surge in pump prices



(March 15, 2022) WASHINGTON, D.C.  — After cresting above $123 per barrel shortly after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the price of crude oil has gradually fallen below $110. If this trend holds, it may remove some of the extreme upward price pressure consumers have found at the pump, but not all. The national average price of a gallon of gas hit $4.33 on Friday before falling a penny and holding throughout the weekend and Monday at $4.32.

AAA: Survey finds $4 gas the tipping point for most Americans

(March 15, 2022) ORLANDO, Fla. — New survey data from AAA finds that two-thirds of Americans felt gas prices were too expensive just a few weeks ago at $3.53 per gallon. Now with the national average at an all-time high of over $4, Americans may have reached a tipping point. Over half (59%) said they would make changes to their driving habits or lifestyle if the cost of gas rose to $4 per gallon. If gas were to reach $5.00, which it has in the Western part of the country, three-quarters said they would need to adjust their lifestyle to offset the spike at the pump.

Pain at the pump — Average gas price surges over $4 a gallon



(March 8, 2022) WASHINGTON, D.C. — As the conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues, crude prices are soaring, leading to higher pump prices in the U.S. The national average for a gallon of gas is $4.06, a staggering 45 cents more than a week ago, 62 cents more than a month ago and $1.30 more than a year ago. The national average has not been this high since July 2008.

Interest in electric vehicles declines in the UK over price premium

Pure electric vehicles accounted for 11.6% of new car sales in 2021, up from 6.6% in 2020, but the headline figures tell a misleading story. Auto Trader, the UK’s leading online automotive marketplace, has long been warning that the sky-high price of EVs could derail efforts to wean motorists off petrol and diesel vehicles.
