San Francisco gas prices reach historic high at $4.75 per gallon



(October 30, 2021) Average gas prices in the San Francisco metro area have reached a new all-time high of $4.75 per gallon, according to GasBuddy. Prices have now breached the previous record of $4.743 per gallon, set over 3,300 days ago in 2012.

Inventory constraints still inhibiting new-vehicle sales



(October 28, 2021) New-vehicle retail sales for October are expected to decline when compared with October 2020 and October 2019, according to a joint forecast from J.D. Power and LMC Automotive. Retail sales of new vehicles this month are expected to reach 943,500 units, a 17.4% decrease compared with October 2020, and a 15.4% decrease compared with October 2019 when adjusted for selling days.

Kelley Blue Book — Electrified vehicle sales boom in Q3



(October 26, 2021) IRVINE, Calif. — Electrified vehicle sales grew rapidly in Q3 2021 to reach an all-time high, even amidst an overall new-vehicle sales decline, according to a new report by Kelley Blue Book. Sales of new vehicles declined 13.4% year over year in Q3 primarily due to low inventory and high prices, while sales of electrified vehicles — the combined total of electric vehicles (EVs), hybrids and plug-in hybrids — jumped by nearly 60% during that same timeframe.

Ghastly gas prices haunt consumers at the pump



(October 26, 2021) WASHINGTON, D.C. — The recent surge in the price of gas may seem spooky this Halloween, but it’s not frightening people away from driving as demand continues to rise. The national average price for a gallon of gasoline rose six cents over the past week to hit $3.38. The pump price has gone up every day in the past 27 days, adding approximately 20 cents to the cost of a gallon of gas, according to AAA.

The study of 2,000 motorists revealed the average vehicle will cover 62 miles per week — that’s 3,224 annually — and see three bouts of car sickness while doing so. While a whopping 43 hours will be spent sitting in stationary traffic in total across the year.

90 percent of new Buicks sold are SUVs — Encore GX is the newest

(October 21, 2021) Almost 90 percent of U.S. Buick sales come from SUVs, and the newest addition is the Encore GX first introduced for Buick for 2020. The Encore GX is not to be confused as yet another trim level for the subcompact Buick Encore. It’s its own Buick model that’s larger and positioned just below Buick’s compact Envision. It’s essentially a tarted-up version of the Chevrolet Trailblazer, which is also new for the bowtie division of GM, and mechanically shares much of the same DNA including its two available engines, both of which are turbocharged three-cylinder variants.

Honda launches new initiatives to support young driver safety

The primary driver of this surge remains the cost of crude oil, which is now closing daily above $80 a barrel. In August, the price of crude was in the low $60s per barrel.
