Auto loan interest rates at lowest level since 2013

(June 4, 2020) SANTA MONICA, Calif. — Interest rates for new vehicles in May dropped to the lowest level seen by the industry in nearly seven years, according to the car shopping experts at Edmunds. The annual percentage rate (APR) on new financed vehicles averaged 4% in May, compared to 4.3% in April and 6.1% a year ago. This is the lowest average interest rate since August 2013, and the third lowest Edmunds has on record dating back to 2002.

National gas-price average just short of $2 a gallon

(June 3, 2020)  The national gas price average is $1.97, just one penny more expensive than last week. Part of the incremental jump can be attributed to increases in gasoline demand, which saw a 7% week-over-week increase. Average new-car prices up 4% year-over-year in May

(June 2, 2020) IRVINE, Calif. — The valuation analysts at Kelley Blue Book today reported the estimated average transaction price for a light vehicle in the United States was $38,940 in May. New-vehicle prices increased $1,618 (up 4.3%) from May 2019, while prices dropped $244 (down 0.6%) from last month.  

"Though new-car sales will be down significantly for the third month in a row, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, average transaction prices have actually strengthened over this period for several reasons," said Tim Fleming, analyst for Kelley Blue Book.
