Edmunds: Auto loan rates hit highest level in a decade

(March 4, 2019) SANTA MONICA, Calif.  — The Interest rates on new vehicles are expected to hit their highest level since 2009 in February, according to the car shopping experts at Edmunds. The annual percentage rate (APR) on new financed vehicles averaged 6.26 percent in February, compared to 5.19 percent last year and 4.56 percent five years ago.

Average new-car prices up nearly 3 percent year-over-year

(March 1, 2019) IRVINE, Calif. — The analysts at Kelley Blue Book today reported the estimated average transaction price for a light vehicle in the United States was $36,590 in February. New-vehicle prices increased $993 (up 2.8 percent) from February 2018, while decreasing $205 from last month.  

"New-vehicle transaction prices climbed nearly 3 percent in February, led by the strength in full-size pickup trucks," said Tim Fleming, analyst for Kelley Blue Book.
