Honda, Mercedes lead Edmunds Most Wanted Awards

(November 18, 2017) SANTA MONICA, Calif. — Edmunds has announced the winners of its 2018 Edmunds Buyers Most Wanted Awards. This recognition honors the most in-demand vehicles in 17 segments, based on sales, days-to-turn and shopper interest data on Edmunds.

"The vehicles recognized as Edmunds Buyers Most Wanted are doing everything right when it comes to attracting the attention of car shoppers," Edmunds Executive Director of Industry Analysis Jessica Caldwell said.

"These awards represent the voice of the customer and celebrate the vehicles that are winning both the hearts and wallets of car buyers."

Seventeen vehicles were recognized, with one winner in each vehicle segment. Honda and Mercedes top the list with four vehicles each -- Honda dominating the standard segments and Mercedes the luxury segments.

Honda took home honors for the Civic, CR-V, Accord and Odyssey in the Compact Car, Compact SUV, Midsize Car and Minivan segments, respectively. Mercedes vehicles that received honors are the C-Class for Luxury Compact Car, GLC-Class for Luxury Compact SUV, S-Class for Luxury Large Car, and GLS-Class for Luxury Large SUV. Toyota and its luxury brand, Lexus, both walked away with two awards each, while Chevrolet, Chrysler, Ford, Porsche and Subaru round out the list with one winner each.

The 2018 Edmunds Most Wanted Award winner for each of the 17 segments was determined by analyzing data from the first nine months of 2017 for all qualifying new models on sale during that entire period. For each segment, Edmunds identified which models had the highest levels of two types of shopper consideration based on Edmunds site activity, the highest sales and the lowest average days-to-turn.

The rankings for each of these data sets were weighted equally to determine the winners in each segment.
