GasBuddy names top-rated gas station coffee brand in every state

(September 26, 2019) BOSTON — Whether it’s iced or piping hot, Americans are fueled by caffeine, with 64 percent drinking at least one cup of coffee a day.  In honor of National Coffee Day on Sept 29, GasBuddy reveals which gas station brands have the highest-rated coffee in each state, making them the best bet when you need a pick-me-up while on the road.

For the third consecutive year, Texas-based Buc-ee’s leads the overall rankings with the highest rated gas station java in the nation.

On the state level, there is a tie: Penn.-based Wawa and Okla.-based QuikTrip captured the top spot in six states each, followed by Mass.-based Cumberland Farms with the best brew in five Northeastern states.

“Gas station convenience store brands across the country have been quick to include offerings that are competitive with national coffee brands, including sourcing premium coffee beans and making handcrafted espresso beverages,” said Frank Beard, convenience store and retail trends analyst at GasBuddy. “Given the recent surge in on-demand, convenience-driven retail, it’s clear that the one-stop-shop for gas and a fresh cup of coffee is appealing to American drivers.”

GasBuddy reviewed more than 2 million user reviews covering more than 150,000 retail locations where gasoline is sold and found that positive coffee ratings at gas station convenience stores have risen 4 percent since 2017. And according to a recent GasBuddy survey, coffee is the third-most purchased beverage at gas station convenience stores behind carbonated soft drinks and water.
