The 2011 Kia Sportage compact crossover boasts more refinement, power, fuel efficiency, technology and convenience features than its predecessor. And it has cutting-edge good looks.

The mundane looking cars of the past are indeed in the past at Kia. Designs from the American design center in Irvine, Calif., have taken on a thoroughly modern look.

Some of the new styling may not appeal to everyone, but you have to applaud Kia was stepping out from the mainstream cookie-cutter mind set to pen some unique sheet metal. The Sportage, on sale since late summer 2010, is a good example.
