(July 8, 2017) When it comes to the mid-size luxury crossovers, Acura is not exactly a newcomer to this “card game.”  After all, they’ve been players in this market with 3-seat, 7-passenger models since 1996.  Well, to be fair, the first model they offered — the 1996 Acura SLX — was actually a rebadged and thinly disguised Isuzu Trooper.

You expect excellent fit and finish on the body, seating that fits like a glove, and an abundance of safety, luxury and convenience features throughout. You also anticipate crisp and accurate steering, a supple suspension, boffo braking, and a good deal of zip when you poke the throttle as you’re passing that semi … and make that urgent “call” down to the engine room requesting more power.

(May 22, 2017) When the Kia Soul first hit the streets in 2009 as a 2010 model, it was clearly aimed at entry-level buyers.  Its subcompact size, excellent fuel economy and shaved-box look were clearly aimed at first-time buyers in their early-to-mid 20’s.  The marketing push used for the modest little crossover clearly pitched it as the ultimate party car, with cocky little hamsters posing as “party animals,” ready to roll.
