Innovative front wheel drive Alvis Grand Prix race car resurrected



(April 13, 2023 KENILWORTH, UK — The sole surviving Alvis Grand Prix racing car, once abandoned in a scrapyard in Coventry, is being revived by The Alvis Car Company, its original creator. It is set to mark its first public appearance in Chiba City, Japan, at Automobile Council 2023, 96 years after its race debut at the 1927 Junior Car Club 200 Mile Race at Brooklands.

$56 million in total sales achieved at Mecum Glendale 2023



(April  7, 2023) WALWORTH, Wis. — Mecum’s Glendale 2023 classic and collector car auction, held March 28-April 1 in Glendale, Ariz., reached $56 million in total overall sales as 1,266 lots hammered sold. With a total 1,667 lots offered throughout the five-day auction, a sell-through rate of 76% was achieved, and individual sales were led by a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing that brought $1.815 million.

(March 9, 2023) TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. — This International Women’s Day, the Hagerty Drivers Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization, announced Amelia Earhart’s 1937 Cord 812 Phaeton as the 33rd vehicle to be inducted into the National Historic Vehicle Register, the only federally recognized program to document the historical and cultural significance of the automobile. Later this year, the Foundation will announce the 34th vehicle to be added to the Register.
