Margaret Thatcher's 'battle bus' goes up for sale

(April 8, 2015) LONDON — An armored coach used by "Iron Lady" Margaret Thatcher as her campaign ‘battle bus’ has been put up for sale. The bomb-proof vehicle was built in 1983 and is believed to have been used for the former Prime Minister’s Northern Ireland tour. Current owner Nick Mead is seeking £25,000 ($37,500) for the bus and plans to list it on Ebay, but is ideally hoping to find a buyer in the UK.

Vintage sign collection brings $4.65 million at auction

The complete assemblage, comprising mostly dealer-sized porcelain neon signs, was sold in its entirety over a two-day period bringing a total of $4.65 million in hammer sales headlined by the $125,000 sale of the one-of-a-kind Weakley Equipment Co. Lawn Equipment sign.

2015 marks 80 years of Chevrolet Suburban, the original SUV

(March 29, 2015) DALLAS — In 1935, the Hoover Dam was completed, Elvis Presley was born, and canned beer first graced backyard barbecues across America. It was also the year the Chevrolet Suburban was introduced.

No other vehicle has been in continuous production as long as the Suburban. A black 2015 Suburban was the 10 millionth vehicle built at GM’s Arlington Assembly Center, which has been the home of the Suburban and other General Motors’ full-size SUVs since 1997.

Mecum motorcycle auction sales reach $12,270,000

Mini on the Mack back for second attempt at world record

Nostalgic sign collection to be offered at auction

(March 18, 2015) What began nearly a half-century ago as a self-imposed “save the signs” crusade, has since become The Walker Sign Collection, comprising more than 400 neon signs, many of which are one-of-a-kind, double-sided porcelain signs.

The entire assemblage, collected by one passionate man, will be offered at auction by Mecum Auctions at a stand-alone event on Friday and Saturday, March 27 and 28 near West Memphis, Ark.
