Hyundai, designer collaborate to rebuild original 1974 Pony Coupe Concept



(November 25, 2022) SEOUL — Hyundai Motor Company has announced it will work with Italian design firm GFG Style, notably its father and son founders Giorgetto and Fabrizio Giugiaro, to rebuild the influential 1974 Pony Coupe Concept that young Giorgetto created for Hyundai’s debut at the 1974 Turin Motor Show. The rebuilt concept will be shown in the springtime.

Celebrating history — Bentley opens new Heritage Garage



(October 26, 2022) CREWE, England — Part of the original Crewe factory site has been repurposed as a home for some of the most historically significant Bentley models from the last 103 years of company history. The Heritage Garage complements the existing Bentley Lineage exhibition in CW1 House, providing a showcase for the 42-car Bentley Heritage Collection. The Heritage Garage will house 22 cars from the Collection, currently spread from 1919 onwards but eventually focusing on those members of the fleet built in Crewe — everything from 1946 onwards.

Century-old Ford plant in Florida to be torn down



(October 21, 2022) A car plant that Henry Ford opened in Jacksonville, Fla., nearly a century ago is slated to be demolished over the objections of local historical preservationists. The Jacksonville City Council last week unanimously approved the property owner's request to tear down the building to allow for new waterfront development, the Florida Times-Union reported. The owner said experts who assessed the building said it was too damaged to repair.

Mecum takes on two cities in one weekend for $36.4 million in sales



(October 19, 2022) Mecum Auctions is well known for setting records and taking on never-before-achieved challenges, and the company took it to another level this past weekend by holding two auctions simultaneously in two different cities located a full 600 miles apart. One of the events, Mecum Chicago 2022, was held Oct. 13-15 in Schaumburg, Ill., and brought $15.2 million in total sales, while the other, Mecum Chattanooga 2022, was held Oct. 14-15 in Tennessee and reached overall sales totals of $21.2 million.
