2022 Kia Niro EV

INDIANAPOLIS — I have a pretty long commute — about 35 miles each way.  And as I noticed while picking up soda at the gas station last weekend, 87 octane was $4.65 per gallon.  Premium and diesel were uncomfortably over $5.  I own a Smart car and have test cars most of the time, so gas prices don’t usually affect my budget much, but goodness that’s expensive.  I let it sink in, then realized I still don’t care because…I’m driving the 2022 Kia Niro EV.

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

(June 5, 2022) In automakers' fast and furious rush to turn entire inventories electric, they have done a commendable job building stylish, highly desirable vehicles. We've driven about a half dozen of the new EVs over the past 18 months and have seen first hand how easy it is to fall in love with the new electrification.

Hyundai Kona N — Performance personified

(May 29, 2022) We've experienced all four Hyundai Kona drivetrains for 2022. And we've saved the most fun setup for last. We agree, the electric version is very fetching — a small crossover we would consider if dipping our toe into the electric pool — but the new performance-minded N version is the most fun. A hoot with 276 horsepower — 286 in an overboost mode — under the hood of a 3,340-pound car.

Spectacular is a word that just doesn’t do it justice. It’s not just a luxurious electric vehicle, it is luxurious vehicle period with a prominent profile and opulent interior. You can even get pillows for the  headrests!

Nissan Kicks has big personality

(May 19, 2022) What kind of car do you really need?  My husband thinks he needs a twin-turbo German rocket wagon to get his kicks, but our budget determines otherwise.  What we need is an affordable compact crossover with style, technology, fuel efficiency, and enough interior space for four and their luggage.  Like many of you, we need a car like the 2022 Nissan Kicks.  It’s the smallest Nissan crossover, but it has a big personality.

2022 Toyota GR86

PHOENIX — If the Toyota GR86 looks somewhat familiar to you it might be because it was formerly known as the Scion FR-S, or the Toyota 86 after Toyota officially discontinued the Scion brand in 2016. Beginning in August of 2017 the 2017 Scion FR-S became a Toyota branded vehicle along with the iA and iM sedans.

(May 22, 2022) Some might say the designers and engineers at Mitsubishi had no place to go but up when configuring the all-new three-row 2022 Outlander crossover. And after driving the new model, we found they've reached all their goals, turning their flagship vehicle into a competitive entry in the crowded compact/mid-size segment.
