GMC Canyon — Living up to its premium billing

By Dvid Finkelstein

Some are suggesting that the GMC Canyon mid-size pickup truck is simply a glorified higher trim rendition of the same vehicle sold and badged as a Chevrolet Colorado. Well, the fact of the matter is that Canyon appears to be more refined on many fronts including the truck's drive and handling characteristics coupled with its totally quiet interior cabin.

GMC Sierra Elevation — Handsome in black

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

Johnny Cash would have probably liked the Elevation Edition of the 2015 GMC Sierra 1500; after all Cash was the "man in black" and for a guy who favored black attire we figure he might like the "truck in black." This special edition Sierra, sporting a monochromatic Onyx Black exterior with 20-inch black painted alloy wheels and black bumpers, door handles and grille would fit the late singer's image.

GMC Yukon — At the forefront of safety

By David Finkelstein

Prior to General Motors officially launching the 2015 GMC Yukon full size SUV, there were lots of rumors from my Detroit-based colleagues that the vehicle would be a totally new product once introduced. Well, I'm happy to report that in fact the newest version certainly appears to have been redone from bumper-to-bumper.

GMC Yukon Denali — Rugged luxury

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

The GMC Yukon is the slightly upscale version of the Chevrolet Tahoe in General Motors' full-sized sport utility ranks, both providing nearly identical equipment and engine configurations. The big differentiation comes with the decidedly upscale Denali, which turns the Yukon — and its larger stablemate, the Yukon XL — into a luxury land yacht rivaling such nameplates as BMW, Mercedes and Land Rover.

GMC Sierra Denali — Pickup luxury at its best

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

We were immediately taken with the plush leather and wood surroundings, a plethora of electronic goodies that we would rather not live without if given a choice, and a luxury-sedan quiet interior. But most of all we were delighted with the performance of the 2014 GMC Sierra Denali, General Motors' ultimate entry into the growing full-sized luxury pickup segment.

INDIANAPOLIS — Trucks are not meant to be glamorous. Sure, they’ll pull a glimmering vintage Airstream trailer, put a wooden Chris Craft boat into crystal water, or carry home that mid-century credenza, but any trucks worth their fully-boxed frames can also haul a bed load of dirt, plow through snow, and charge through muddy fields.

GMC Acadia Denali — Taking it to the next level

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

Nearly half of all GMC Yukon full-sized SUVs sold are luxury-trim level Denali models.
The Denali was launched in 1999 to give buyers an additional taste of luxury with their sport utility, to give GMC loyalists the same treatment as buyers of the Cadillac Escalade. The Denali’s success makes it logical that the brand’s top-selling near-full-sized crossover, the Acadia, be adorned with the Denali treatment. It took four years, but finally there is a Acadia Denali.

GMC Canyon Crew Cab offers credible performance in the mid-size segment

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

The playing field wasn’t level in the fall of 2003 when the all-new mid-sized GMC Canyon and its sibling, the Chevrolet Colorado were introduced, the first new mid-sized General Motors pickup trucks in many years.

In fact the Canyon/Colorado at that time were the first all-new trucks in the mid-sized segment in several years and were competing against more “mature” models from the industry.

GMC Yukon Denali – space and luxury for a price

The daughter said she had to move a few books and other assorted items accumulated from two years of teaching. She had changed teaching positions after the school term ended in June.

She asked her mother and me if would we help transport her stuff from the old school to the new school? She procrastinated through the short summer break, and moving stuff in her little sports car would entail numerous 60-mile round trips with only a couple of days left in late August to complete the task.
