(April 24, 2022) The King Ranch edition of the popular Ford Explorer should provide the kind of SUV luxury that would satisfy the owner of such luxury vehicles as the Lincoln Aviator, BMW X5 or Infiniti QX60. The palatial King Ranch interior imparts soothing vibes on the road with its well-appointed surroundings, library-quiet cabin, and its performance-oriented 400-horsepower turbocharged V6 engine.

Ford Maverick — A small pickup that works

(April 10, 2022) As pickup trucks grow bigger, it seems more people are looking for a smaller truck that costs less, takes up less garage space, and is generally more fuel efficient. The problem until recently is the new class of mid-sized trucks — Chevy Colorado, Toyota Tacoma, Ford Ranger — are about as large as full-sized trucks of the 1990s. Where have all the mini-trucks of previous decades gone?

Ford Escape PHEV — Electric power for the chores of life

(February 27, 2022) You are probably aware of all the electric car hype, but aren't ready to consider an EV for a variety of reasons such as price, availability of charging stations in your area, the cost of installing a Level 2 charger, and because you have nothing against the modern internal combustion engine (ICE). Perhaps if you dipped your toe in the electric pool you could get a better handle on electric ownership?

Ford Mustang convertible — Just in time arrival

(December 15, 2021) MIAMI — Back last September I had the opportunity to drive the Mustang Mach-E, Ford’s first all-electric vehicle. I gave it good marks for its range of up to 270 miles on a full charge and its overall performance. But I didn’t really consider it a Mustang.

2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid

INDIANAPOLIS — I’m trying to imagine the conversation in Ford’s boardroom several years ago when some enterprising executive lofted this nugget:  “Let’s take our Ford Escape crossover, replace its aft half with a bed, slap on the name of a sub-par compact from the ‘70s, and use it to replace our compact sedans.  We’ll make it a hybrid too.”  I’m sure eyebrows slanted askew, but 2022 Ford Maverick pickup is a pretty good idea.

(November 28, 2021) The most obvious aspect of the Ford Bronco is its curb appeal. Still new to many who have seen the modern iteration only between the covers of auto magazines or on YouTube videos, it's an attention grabber on the street. Viewing one in person clocked in Cyber Orange paint seemed to be the highlight of the day for a few people in the supermarket parking lot, at the gas station, and outside a favorite restaurant.

2022 Ford Ranger Tremor

PHOENIX — When it comes to hard core off-road capability, the Ford Ranger sat in the parking lot watching competitors like Chevy Colorado ZR2, Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro and Jeep Gladiator (in Rubicon or Moab trim levels) hit the rough stuff: steep boulder-strewn trails, deep sand, and streams. Ranger’s FX4 off-road trim did add a rear differential locker and skid plates, but it was no match for and couldn’t go places the Jeep or Tacoma tackled.

Ford F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid — A new meaning for hybrid

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

(August 29, 2021) General Motors introduced the hybrid Silverado and GMC Sierra during the last decade giving these full-sized pickups a slight edge in gas mileage and a small amount of available slow-speed all-electric driving. But it wasn't until the introduction of the 2021 Ford F-150 Power Boost Hybrid that a wide range of truly electric possibilities was included on a full-sized truck. The new F-150 Hybrid not only increases gas mileage about 20 percent, it adds incredible capability in several other areas.

Ford Bronco Sport — A more affordable Bronco

(July 11, 2021) Back in the last century Ford advertised that it had "a better idea." Its "better idea" campaigns usually came attached to a new vehicle such as the early Mustang. Now in the year 2021 Ford has a better idea — perhaps we should call it a "good" idea — build a smaller version of the all-new ultra-popular Bronco, with all the styling cues of the larger truck, but at a price point many people can afford. And call it the Bronco Sport.

2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1

PHOENIX — Since it was first introduced back in 1964 — almost 60 years ago — Mustang has been on the short list of cars most everyone wants to own. For decades Ford has created its own Mustang ecosystem with an interconnected stable of high-performance offerings like the Boss 302 and 429, Mustang Bullitt offered three times — 2001, 2008 and 2019, Mach 1 and the super rare SVT Cobra R, with only 300 copies ever built — all in red, to name just a few of many over the years.
