2015 Audi Q3

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Audi Q3 2.0T Premium Plus Quattro Tiptronic is a mouthful of name for a compact crossover. On some versions, Audi actually manages to include much, but not all, of this information on the rear liftgate. Breaking down this nomenclature tells us that it’s Audi’s all-new entry-level crossover.

Audi A3 — Quality in a small package

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

Size no longer defines the quality and overall excellence of an automobile. Looking back to the second half of the 20th Century, smaller generally meant cheaper in terms of build quality and level of equipment. This began changing a decade ago and now some of the most rapidly expanding segments in the luxury ranks are made up of smaller sedans and crossovers loaded with all the good stuff we expect from a premium vehicle.

2015 Audi A3 sedan

PALO ALTO, Calif. — It’s a natural tendency for each new generation of a car to be slightly larger than its predecessor. I was vividly reminded of that when I walked out of a store just a couple of weeks after the all-new 2015 Audi A3 sedan was introduced and saw one in the wild so to speak. Initially I thought it was an A4 before I recognized it as the new A3, the smallest car sold by Audi in the USA.

Audi A6 TDI — Diesel taken to a new level

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

Audi's reputation for building some of the most desirable cars in the world continues to grow with stylish remakes of mid-sized vehicles that stand out with automotive sophistication, delightful interiors and impeccable driving demeanors. And now the A6 for 2014 with a new fuel-efficient 3.0-liter V-6 diesel engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission makes it even better.

Audi A4 — A refreshening that works

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

Competition is fierce in the entry-level luxury sports sedan segment, but we found again as we have in the recent past that the Audi A4 is very capable of holding its own against such stalwarts as the BMW 3-Series, Infiniti G and Cadillac ATS.

Audi Q5 — As good as it gets

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

For the person who wants to venture into the luxury world of crossovers, the Audi Q5 offers a right-sized vehicle for up to four passengers that will reward its owner every time he or she cranks up the engine. We found it a delicious mix of outstanding driving dynamics and luxury appointments, with a silky, comfortable ride.

Audi A8L — Now with six cylinders

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

Audi's incomparable A8 flagship sedan has become synonymous with the V-8 engine — at least on this side of the pond. Big luxury and big engines go together. That was then and this is now — throw synonymous out the window for 2013.

For the first time ever in North America, Audi has inserted a V-6 engine into its flagship sedan. Residing under the hood of the new A8 and A8L is a 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 making 333 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque.

2013 Audi A4/S4

BEAVER CREEK, Col. — My, how the family has grown! The Audi A4 family has been Audi’s best-selling product line for the past four decades and if history means anything the new 2013 version, the eighth-generation A4, will proudly carry on the family tradition. Often referred to as the “entry-level Audi,” as if such a moniker would apply, the new A4 brings a lot to the table in the way of performance, luxury, comfort and just plain driving fun.

Audi allroad — Life between an SUV and wagon

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

While luxury wagons are popular in Europe, they are hard to find in U.S. showrooms. There's a reason for this paucity of cargo-capable sheetmetal — they simply aren't on the shopping list of North America consumers.

U.S. buyers want their upscale cargo hauler to fall into the sport utility crossover segment, the wagon moniker is verboten. For this reason Audi pulled the A6 Avant (Audi-speak for wagon) from showrooms after the 2011 model year and will discontinue the A4 Avant following the 2012 model year.

2013 Audi allroad

BEAVER CREEK, Col. — Truth be told, the Germans may make questionable decisions when it comes to picking fights…but they sure do know their stuff when it comes to manufacturing motor cars. I was reminded of this recently in Colorado to review a variety of Audi’s 2013 models. Germany lays claim to some of the finest-engineered vehicles in the world, a distinction that says something when one weights its competition throughout the rest of the non-European world. Case in point is the all-new 2013 Audi allroad.
