2018 Audi A5 Sportback

INDIANAPOLIS — If it’s January, it’s time for the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.  Arriving at the glitzy affair requires a comfortable car for the long drive, agile quick performance to get you there safely, and elegant style to set valets back on their heels.  It’s guaranteed to be snowy, so having all-wheel-drive is a big plus.  I couldn’t have picked a better traveling companion than the 2018 Audi A5 Sportback.

Audi A4 Allroad — New for 2017

By David Finkelstein

For the 2017 model year Audi has introduced the A4 Allroad, a refined and worldly automobile. From the newly redesigned underside elaborate adaptive five-link suspension system to its all-new standard quattro all-wheel-drive with ultra technology, the 2017 Allroad sets a new elevated benchmark for the luxury automotive wagon segment.

Audi S3 — Driving excitement in a small sedan

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

Full disclosure: We are big fans of small high-performance cars — especially four-door compact sedans that will move four adults in comfort — that are infused with extraordinary horsepower, cutting-edge cornering capabilities, impeccable handling, and overall driving dynamics. Throw in a stylish luxury package, all the better. So spending quality time with the refreshed compact 2017 Audi S3 was a very pleasant experience.

2017 Audi R8 V10

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Before I could shut the car off coming back from a routine errand the neighbor lady was tapping on the passenger window asking if I would take her 14-year-old son for a ride. "He''s been dying to ride in that car, he loves cars and this is one of his favorites," she implored. So off we went in the 2017 Audi R8, which also garnered a lot of attention from adults during our test week.

Audi R8 — An awesome package

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

The new Audi 2017 R8 draws considerable attention from teenagers to adults of all ages just sitting in the parking lot even though the "fully redesigned" R8 looks very much like its predecessor, which dramatically appeared in 2008. The wedge-shaped design is so compelling, so much larger than life when you get up-close, that we think it would have been a nearly impossible task for Audi designers to change the styling direction while maintaining the curb appeal of the original.

2017 Audi S3

PHOENIX — The Audi A3 sedan arrived on the U.S. automotive scene a couple of years ago as the entry-level vehicle for the brand. Since then, Audi has launched Audi 3 versions in convertible, plug-in hybrid Sportback e-tron, and the high-performance S3 sedan tested here. Think of it as a smaller version of the popular Audi A4.

2017 Audi Q7

PHOENIX — The original Audi Q7 SUV has been around since 2007, when it was introduced to compete with Mercedes-Benz GLS, BMW X5 and Volvo XC90. But sales never approached those of the Mercedes or BMW offerings.  For 2017 Audi has completely redesigned the Q7. In the process, it shed some 474 pounds, an unusually huge amount for any vehicle.

Audi A4 — Getting it right

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

To get the full benefit of the subtle styling changes of the all-new Audi A4 you will have to park the 2017 next to the 2016 version. It's still conservatively handsome in an Audi sort of way, but under the skin the differences are many — the new model is more powerful with improved fuel economy, has been endowed with a very attractive reworked interior, features spacious quarters for second-row passengers, and sports an array of new safety and technology components.

Audi TT — Technologically advanced sports car

By David Finkelstein

The expressive 2016 Audi TT Coupe as well as its sister Roadster Convertible clearly equate to a no compromise sports car in every way. From its design to it's signature passing power and performance, TT drives and handles with welcomed precision. No doohickey gimmickry here — just a well crafted automobile loaded with pleasurable creature comforts.

Audi Q3 — Lux CUV goes small

By Jim Meachen and Ted Biederman

Subcompact crossovers are all the rage these days in luxury and non-luxury guise, small enough to toss around on the road yet big enough to haul four adults with a modicum of cargo in a relatively fuel efficient package. On the luxury side, the Audi Q3 entered the U.S. market for the 2015 model year after being sold in Europe and elsewhere since 2011 proving it's never too late to jump into a growing segment.
